SBE CCC is thrilled to welcome John Kubale, research assistant professor at ICPSR, as our new project director.

An infectious disease epidemiologist, Dr. Kubale completed his PhD at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. In addition to his work with SBE CCC, he works on studies of respiratory viruses like influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and SARS-CoV-2.

"As the continuing COVID-19 pandemic has made clear, a failure to consider the broader social, economic, and environmental context in which disease occurs and interventions are designed/implemented leads to ineffectual policies and perpetuates disparities," says Dr. Kubale. "I am so excited to join the SBE CCC as it provides an important opportunity to build a collaborative and interdisciplinary research infrastructure that will have important implications for not just COVID-19, but the broader field of infectious disease research as a whole."
