ACS Labor Force Estimates for Artist Occupations

The National Archive of Data on Arts and Culture, a data repository funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, is pleased to announce the release of the American Community Survey (ACS), 2015-2019: Special Tabulations of Artists. The tables are freely available for download on the NADAC website and show labor force estimates for detailed artistic occupations for the United States as a whole, each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and the largest 25 metropolitan areas.

About 2015-2019 ACS Special Tabulations of Artists: The special tabulations of artists were created from the 2015-2019 American Community Survey (ACS) by the Bureau of the Census at the request of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).

About ACS: The American Community Survey is a nationwide survey designed to provide reliable and timely social, economic, housing, and demographic data. It provides estimates on a broad range of population, housing unit, and household characteristics for states, counties, cities, school districts, congressional districts, census tracts, block groups, and many other geographic areas. Since 2010, the ACS has been used as the nation's source of social and economic data for population and housing characteristics. Data users can use the occupation variable to restrict the ACS sample to a subset of respondents in arts-related occupations.

About NADAC: The National Archive of Data on Arts and Culture (NADAC) is a repository that facilitates research on arts and culture by acquiring data, particularly those funded by federal agencies and other organizations, and sharing those data with researchers, policymakers, people in the arts and culture field, and the general public. It is one of several topical archives hosted by ICPSR, the largest social science data archive in the world and part of the University of Michigan's Institute for Social Research. Funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, NADAC provides arts-related data and related resources completely free of charge.
